Reading this book is part of my journey to achieve my dreams.
I turned 40, May 2018. A few months to my birthday, I found myself thinking about all the things I had planned to accomplish before I turned 40 and ended up feeling miserable that my life had not really turned out exactly how I had hoped it would be or imagined it should be. Due to these feelings, I didn’t think there was a reason to celebrate that milestone and I sternly warned everyone around me not to stage any surprise party.
On that day, among the beautiful surprises my husband and kids had stored up for me, was the best present I had ever received. My husband and kids got all my close family and friends to make short 2-minutes videos and he sent each one to me about every hour throughout the day. I was overwhelmed with love and joy as I listened to all their best wishes for me, statements of how I have been an inspiration and role model to a lot of people and most importantly, prayers of better years to come.
I suddenly had an epiphany! I realized that I had actually achieved so much in these few years. Maybe not everything I had on my list, maybe not how I wanted them to happen but how God wanted it to happen. I decided from that moment to live a life of gratitude instead. To be grateful for what I have now. A wonderful family, friends, a job and the opportunity to do so much more. As long as I am still alive, I can still achieve my dreams and aspirations. After that day, I decided to “see the glass as half full instead of half empty and with that mindset, I have achieved so many dreams already. I finally went skydiving, I started this blog and I have read more books than I did before and traveled to more countries that I have ever done before. In just one year!
Expect to Win is an easy to read or listen (I listened to the audio book) book with 36 ideas that will help you move closer to your life long goals. Using famous quotes, proverbs and stories about some of the most successful people in the world, the author encourages the reader to always expect to win and never give up, no matter how old you are. The stories told in this book about real people who achieved great things even in old age are inspirational and uplifting.
I enjoyed every part of this book and I believe you will too. I highly recommend this book to you all. Enjoy…..
