Word Play Wednesday: Mirror Mirror…. A Poem by Biyai Garricks

Welcome to Word Play Wednesday!

Word Play Wednesday is a weekly feature of written and spoken word poetry. I will be sharing my written and spoken word poems in addition to poems by other like minds. If you are interested in sharing some of your poetry, feel free to buzz me and we can work something out.

I hope that you enjoy reading and listening to our thoughts, feelings and rants and in many ways relate to some of them.

Enjoy!

Mirror Mirror

Look in the mirror,

who do you see?

Friend, Foe, or just you?

Ain’t you quite put together?

All Prim and Proper,

Or so it seems.

You are indeed the sensible one,

You hold the forte,

but locked up those big dreams,

In the chest of “Everyone Else”

And sacrificed those great aspirations,

On the altar of “The fear of the unknown”,

This person staring back,

Who is she?

Where has she hidden that mover and shaker?

How did she disappear?

When did she walk away, slip away, fade away?

From one duty to another,

From Pillar to Post,

The whole world comes first,

Lost in the needs of others,

Lost in herself.

Look in the Mirror,

Who do you see?

A stronger woman,

Building a path,

Weaving her way through every obstacle,

Clearing the doubts in her mind ,

and the killing fears in her heart.

Chasing those dreams with all that she’s got,

living each one as she should,

With pure joy,

No regrets,

No guilt,

but with a peaceful smile on her lips,

She knows,

She has overcome!
