Today’s poem is for my beloved sister Wabiye Hansbau Opara (Nee Suku-Ogbari) who passed on to be with the Lord the 1st of April 2011. I miss her everyday but not in a sad way because whenever she comes to mind, so many fun memories come flooding in and I am grateful to God to have had such an angel in my life. We named one of my daughters after her and it is a blessing that I get to say her name “WABIYE” out loud numerous times in a day. Continue to rest in the bosom of the Lord Wabs!
Remembering You
Today I choose to remember,
Your Intoxicating laughter,
Your infectious smile,
Your mischievous grin,
and that sparkle in your eyes.
I remember,
Your calming voice,
Your wise words,
always with a hint of humor.
I can not forget,
Your generous heart,
Your free spirit,
and your strong will.
Remembering you,
is what I choose to do today,
for your light still shines brightly
in my heart,
and your name stays alive in my home,
and sometimes,
I still see your face,
when I look in the mirror.
Remembering you,
is a way of life,
for those you have left behind,
but behind you,
are the fondest memories,
that one can ever have.
