This is a weekly feature of unforgettable books I have read in times past which have not had the chance to be reviewed on this blog as I read them a long time ago. Lets’ call them my personal classics. I will be featuring a new favorite every week and I hope you will be interested to read and enjoy some as I have.

This week’s pick is….

The Atonement Child’ by Francine Rivers

This is another unforgettable and still very relevant story about rape, it’s effect on victims and God’s unfailing love and mercy. This story gave me a whole new perspective on issues like this and how God’s ways are always perfect even in our darkest hours. It is a reminder that God will always come through for his children even when we think all is lost.

I will always go back to read this book as it serves as a reminder of God’s love and will in our lives laced with many lessons to learn.

Have you read this book?

I highly recommend.

Synopsis:

Dynah Carey knew where her life was headed. Engaged to a wonderful man, the daughter of doting parents, a faithful child of God–she has it all. Then the unthinkable happens: Dynah’s perfect life is irrevocably changed by a rape that results in an unwanted pregnancy.

Her family is torn apart and her seemingly rock-solid faith is pushed to the limits as she faces the most momentous choice of her life: to embrace or to end the life within her.

This is ultimately a tale of three women, as Dynah’s plight forces both her mother and her grandmother to confront the choices they made. Written with balance and compassion, The Atonement Child brings a new perspective to a widely debated topic.
