This is the third book in this series by the author and it was a read I had highly anticipated. You can also check out my reviews of the other two books in “Book Reviews” titled ‘Can I Give My Husband Back?’ and ‘Has Anyone Seen My Sex Life?’.
‘Did My Love Life Shrink In The Wash?‘ follows yet another Callahan sister Beth, and how her life drastically changes to something she can no more recognize after the birth of her son. She finds her new task of motherhood quite daunting especially when her boyfriend/father of her son has only just started a demanding job and they seem to see less and less of each other. This is a story about motherhood and how it affects several aspects of your life.
This was a bit of a slow read for me compared to the other two books which I swallowed up whole. The author still did a great job with her witty style of writing, however I feel that this one dragged on for more than necessary. Also I didn’t find Beth that much of an interesting character and most of the book seemed to cover her daily mundane activities, sort of like reading her personal journal. Nevertheless, there was still a lot to laugh about and it was delightful to meet her sisters again from the other books. As a mum, I was also able to relate to some of her struggles common among new mothers although I must confess that in the part of the world I am from, we get a lot more support from extended family than she did. However, I was able to empathize with her and most of what she experienced.
Overall, it was an ok read which I would still recommend but it may be better to read the first two books before you read this one. I will still read more book by the author when she has something new.
