If you are interested in sharing some of your poetry, feel free to buzz me and we can work something out.

I hope that you enjoy reading and listening to our thoughts, feelings and rants and in many ways relate to some of them.
Enjoy!

This week I will be sharing a poem that spoke to me in a book I recently read written by Tammy Ejimadu titled ‘For Real?’. It was a very relatable, insightful and often funny collection of stories based on the author’s favorite scriptures from the bible. I loved the experience and I highly recommend this book. I hope you like it.

Nothing Prepares You For This!

Nothing prepares you for this!

The deafening silence from him when you call his name

The coldness of his skin, once warm

The blankness as your heart beats faster

Yet your mind is as cold as the hands of death

Nothing prepares you for this!

Nothing prepares you for this!

The silence all around you even though you can hear

The sound of the feet of mourners as they knock on your door

The barrage of sympathy, tears and wailing

Yet all is frightfully still and quiet

Nothing prepares you for this!

Nothing prepares you for this!

The pain you feel so deep, yet can not be explained

The wrenching of your gut as the pain slowly pulls

The gaping hole in your heart that has no end

Yet it does not feel enough to handle reality

Nothing prepares you for this!

Nothing prepares you for this!

You can drop the facade of steel and let your guard down

You can drop the poker face and let it all out

It might pour out like a rain of tears

It might pour out like shrill shrieks

Nothing prepares you for this!

Yes, nothing prepares you for this!

Just remember that the One who felt the most pain holds you firmly

so, take all the time you need

It might take a while but one day at a time

The pain will pass, healing will come

For death has been swallowed up by victory!
