Although this is my first book by the author, I was super excited going into reading it because I have read 4 books in the Twinbliss Resort Series already (check out my reviews in “Book Reviews”) and they were all interesting reads.
‘Escape’ is a story about how Lola and Onahi meet at the luxurious Twinbliss Resort in Gobota island and fall in love. Onahi is healing from a broken relationship and is trying to occupy his mind with business and anything else to get over his situation while Lola escapes to the resort after a disappointing realization that her crush had eyes only for someone else. Fate throws them together and their attraction for each other is electric but with everything going on in their individual lives, they are unsure if this is something they should leave in Gobota and move on or something to consider to pursue.
This was another interesting story from this series. Reading this book was like meeting old friends because out of all the books in the series so far, this is the first book that featured almost all the other characters from the other books as Onahi, the male protagonist is a central character in the entire series. However, this book was a slow burn for me. It took me time to get into the story because I didn’t find the characters relatable and this is usually very important for me. I fell too much time was spent in the first few chapters trying to establish the back stories for the protagonists and this may have been okay if I was reading this book as a standalone novel but that was not the case. I was eager to get into the story quickly and it took too much time to get to the action. I would have also preferred it if the story was more concise but packed. Nonetheless, I still got my happy ending which made everything better in the end. I look forward to reading more of the author’s work going forward.
