I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author, and I want to use this opportunity to thank her for the book and for continuously dishing out really interesting stories.
‘Call Me Legachi’ is a story that follows Legachi, a young Nigerian lady living in Lagos whose “Boyfriend” has relocated to the U.K and wishes to join him there by all means to keep the relationship alive and possibly move it to the next level. Legachi secures a Post graduate scholarship and is excited to finally join Mezie her boo. However, things don’t go as she planned or as she hoped they would. She quickly realizes that life in London is not at all rosy and her relationship with Mezie is going down-hill as well. In a bid to survive, she secures a job as a nanny to a single dad’s daughter, Roman which would help keep her afloat, but little does she know that this would be the beginning of a whirlwind. This is a story about desperation, deceit, toxic relationships, love and second chances.
This was another page turner by the author and the story was so vivid that I could feel the emotions come right at me. As usual, it was well written and if you have ever visited or lived in London or Lagos, you would really appreciate the story more with the familiar landmarks mentioned in the story. Although I enjoyed reading this story as it was quite an interesting one and also carries several themes that are relevant to people in relationships or want to go into relationships, I didn’t seem to connect with any of the characters. Perhaps, it was the choices they made or maybe not, but I wasn’t drawn to any of the main characters especially Mezie. Also, Roman’s big secret though intriguing, seemed a little bit over the top as the story unfolded. Besides that, it was entertaining and a good use of my time.
If you are a romance or contemporary fiction lover, I would recommend this book and other books by the author. Check out “Book Reviews” for more recommendations of books by this author.
