Bird Box is a book centered around a woman named Malorie. Malorie lives with her sister, Shannon and has just discovered that she is about to have a baby. A mysterious force has come to Malorie’s city and it is killing people, the only thing people know about this force is that if you see it with your eyes, it will kill you. Malorie and her sister are trying to survive but unfortunately Shannon doesn’t make it as she is killed by this unseen enemy. Malorie finds out about a safe house on the other side of town and so she makes her way to the house but in blindfolds and lives there with other survivors.
Five years into this nightmare, a handful of survivors still remain including Malorie and her two young children. Malorie spends her days training the children to prepare them for the journey of their lives and they need all the luck they can get to make it to the safe haven. This is a story about survival, love and courage.
What I liked about this book is the way the suspense kept me on my toes up until the end. I found the story quite engaging and the characters well developed. My favorite character was Malorie the protagonist because she was very brave and tenacious. I admired the way she handled every challenge as it came even when she was afraid for her life and the lives of her children. My least favorite character was Gary for obvious reasons. I loved the way the author flipped the times between the present and the past. This made for interesting reading and added more to the suspense. It was a thrill!
I don’t really have anything I can say I disliked about this book. It was really that good.
I recommend this book to all thriller, mystery, horror and fantasy lovers. I hope you check it out.
