Word Play Wednesday: I Am Beautiful by Biyai Garricks

Welcome to Word Play Wednesday!
Word Play Wednesday is a weekly feature of written and spoken word poetry. I will be sharing my written and spoken word poems in addition to poems by other wonderful Poets both past and present. If you are interested in sharing some of your poetry, feel free to buzz me and we can work something out.

I hope that you enjoy reading and listening to our thoughts, feelings and rants and in many ways relate to some of them.
Enjoy!

This week I will be sharing a poem I wrote a while ago. I started writing this poem during a poetry workshop I attended earlier in the year and eventually came out with this in the end. It is now one of my favorite poems because I believe that it describes the essence of me. I hope you like it.

I Am Beautiful

I am a cool morning breeze,

that soothes like water on patched lips.

A gentle whisper,

that breathes over a sleeping child.

A warm cup of tea on a cold day.

A bouquet of fresh flowers,

that bring new scents of hope and laughter.

A strong oak tree,

that blooms at the beginning of spring.

A caterpillar,

wrapped in a cocoon of pleasant promises,

waiting on time to unleash the blinding beauty of my colorful wings.

An overflowing ocean of hidden talents,

birthed from years of waiting, wailing and watching.

A voice of reason,

that prepares a table,

furnished with wisdom, knowledge and courage.

I am a love that stays.

The anchor that holds through a raging storm.

A house by the seaside,

beaten up by the heat of the sun, waves and tsunamis

but stands strong because,

I am built upon a rock.

Clay that yields to the masterful hands of the Almighty.

A chosen treasure,

A priest, set apart for the Master’s glory.

I am my father’s daughter,

favored child.

choice fruit from my mother’s garden of bountiful harvests.

Mother of kings, warriors and inventors of good things.

Helpmeet, pillar and pride.

Giver of wealth and fame.

Home of comfort.

I am strength personified.

I am ruler of my destiny.

I am beautiful.

I am Queen!
